As on land, ocean flora is both seasonal and visible from space. The ebb and flow of chlorophyll in the oceans is a useful indicator of Earth’s marine climate health and is also used to spot pollution hotspots, caused by industrial and agricultural processes.
Working closely with subject matter experts, we scripted, storyboarded, designed and produced this visualisation showing a year of chlorophyll concentrations, known as ocean colour, across the globe.
This work was created for EUMESTAT, for use in their outreach activities around the European Commission’s Copernicus earth observation initiative.
